Cleaning ventilation systems is an important step in maintaining a healthy and safe environment. Clean ventilation improves indoor air quality, which directly affects our well-being, health and work productivity. It also reduces the risk of fire, making the environment safer and more energy-efficient. Dust, mold, grease and other contaminants accumulate in ventilation systems, which can pose a serious threat over time if not cleaned regularly. Poor indoor air can cause unpleasant sensations such as headaches and fatigue, promote the spread of viruses and increase energy consumption. Regular ventilation cleaning prevents these problems, improving the efficiency of the system and helping to reduce costs, thus maintaining a safe and healthy environment.

Ventilation systems, regardless of their type (natural or mechanical), become contaminated over time, accumulating dust, skin cells, chemical fumes and debris. These pollutants not only worsen air quality, but also pose health and fire safety hazards. Although many ventilation systems have filters, contamination settles inside the ventilation ducts over time, which is why regular mechanical ventilation cleaning is necessary. Ventilation cleaning services help maintain clean indoor air and reduce the risk of fire, especially in places where fume extraction systems operate, such as restaurants. In these places, grease and dust deposits accumulate in the ventilation ducts, which can create dangerous situations if regular cleaning is neglected.

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia Regulation No. 238, which entered into force on 19 April 2016, stipulates that the inspection and cleaning of mechanical ventilation systems is a mandatory requirement to reduce the risk of fire. These regulations stipulate that ordinary ventilation systems must be inspected and cleaned at least once every five years, while explosion-proof systems that extract flammable substances must be inspected and cleaned annually. Compliance with these regulations is essential for both public and private buildings, as it helps to ensure a safe environment. A mechanical ventilation inspection report is necessary to comply with regulatory requirements and ensure fire safety.

Ventilation cleaning service is also available for private homes with centralized air recovery systems. Clean ventilation systems help maintain fresh and healthy air in the home, as well as reduce system load, thereby reducing energy consumption. Although a mechanical ventilation inspection certificate is not mandatory for private homes, regular cleaning of ventilation air ducts is recommended to ensure optimal system operation.

Kitchen exhaust systems are particularly important in catering establishments, as grease build-up in ventilation ducts can pose a serious threat. Cleaning ventilation ducts is an essential preventive measure that improves the efficiency of the system and reduces the risk of fire. It is especially important to ensure the cleanliness of the exhaust system in restaurants, pizzerias and other catering establishments, where a lot of grease and dirt accumulate on a daily basis. Ignoring cleaning, there is a risk that grease deposits can ignite, which can endanger not only the operation of the company, but also human life and health.

In the industrial sector, especially where flammable substances are used, such as in the chemical industry or woodworking, it is important to maintain clean ventilation systems to reduce the risk of explosions and fires. Regular cleaning of technical exhaust systems is necessary for the system to effectively remove flammable gases and vapors. According to regulatory enactments, such systems must be inspected and cleaned at least once a year, and at the end of the cleaning, a ventilation inspection certificate is issued, confirming the system’s compliance with safety requirements.
